Okay, I'm using Adobe Photoshop 7.0, and Lightroom 2.5. I'm sure the former does layers.... not sure about the latter.
But anyway, I don't have the slightest clue where to begin. I'm not even exactly sure what the benefits of layering might be. But from time to time, I'll here people make comments like, "Once you start using layers, it will open up a whole new world for your PP"..... and so of course I'm intrigued.
If any of you could post links for some good, easy online tutorials, geared towards the PP dummy, I'd really appreciate it.
LR2 does not do layers but does adjustments that can be changed however you want.
Benifits of layers are many one use is you can do an adjusment on a layer and if you dont like it just delete the layer without affecting the base layer (normally the main image)
You may want to get yourself a good photoshop book or a few tutorial videos and work you way thru them
Lynda.com has some good ones, the Lightroom2 set is very helpful and will unlock alot of stuff you would just not normally think of using.

Fish Chris: Using layers opens the image editor to the powerful tools and adjustments of Photoshop (whether Elements or CS4).
Do whatever you have to do to learn the basics of using layers. Plenty of books, magazines, online tutorials, and other sources can introduce you to the use of layers.
