That's a nice looking leafhopper John - plenty of good detail there. I quite like #1. Remember to experiment with Photoshop settings - there's no right or wrong way of PP.

all a bit to centred in frame though.
the lighting doesnt look as good in these as alot of your other shots.
maybe the flash angle?

Yea more than likely angle of the flash, I am constantly changing the flash position or the nuts on the bracket or moving flash closer or further away from the subject.
Can't seem to find a sweet spot. I usually try get the flash to pop right in the subjects face.
Also struggle a bit with flash in bright sunny conditions in which this was taken.
