p.1 #1 · More HS BB with Vivitar 285's

Decided to give the Vivitar 285's with the PW's one more chance instead of just using my Canon 580EX's but this time in a different gym with different lighting from the one I shot at last week (https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/843255). Better lights in this gym. Shot 3 games using the Sanyo Eneloops and didn't have to replace them.

Used my MK2N with the 70-200/2.8, ISO 640, F3.2 or 3.5, manual mode @250, center point focus, flash on 1/2 power. Flashes were set on the corners about 6 feet behind the baseline and on 13 foot stands.

I love your setup and the results. Clean crisp action and color! I love using the 285's. I've heard nothing, but good things about the Eneloops. too.

Had to find a cheap alternative to the 580's in case they die on me. Looks like the 285's will do it.

Hey Fish On, is the kid in #5 a burn victim?

I wish I could use flashes at the basketball games I shoot. Instead I have to contend with these stupid fluorescent lights.

Nice series, you have great detail in your photos.
Wondering how the recycle time are, on the Vivitars?

Reg,

The recycle times are about less than a second to a second depending on the batteries. Less, when they are freshly charged and I can get thru 2 games. Around the 3rd game, the recycle time is about a second, so you have to choose your shots.

I also use Sanyo Eneloops for my batteries which are a lot better than the other rechargeables.
