I have a question about the pronunciation of the name Voigtlnder. I believe it should be pronounced with an F-sound, like Volkswagen. Is that right?

Jonas, all German words using the letter "v" are pronouned "f". For the "v" sound, the German language uses the letter "w". So Voigtländer is pronounced Foigt...
Hope this helps.
The ZA 24f1.4 has been rumored for a couple of years ( I think folks claim to have seen a prototype 2+ years ago at trade shows); so it would not surprise me it it becomes a reality (though to be honest I would be more interested in a 35f2 or 25/24f2.8).
I really don't understand Cosina not producing more 125s (unless there is a technical issue such as unable to obtain glass). This lens was clearly a winner in the market place. I guess I can't complain too much since I have one and it was relatively inexpensive when I purchased it; but anyways.
However, I can see them bypassing sony mount for various reasons. So if they did bring it back it would not surprise me if they excluded sony (and perhaps pentax).

That's probably not a decision that Sony would make (and Zeiss would have no say in the matter). However, I have also thought that Cosina should independently re-issue the CV 125 macro in their SL II series if only in the Sony/Minolta/ZA lens mount. Since we are not going to the get the Zeiss ZF makros in the ZA mount, and the existing Sony/Minolta macro is uninspiring, this could be the go to macro lens for the Sony alpha system. Cosina would even have to bother selling it in Nikon.Canon.Pentax mounts as they already make the Zeiss makro in those mounts and they don't necessarily want to compete with themselves (although I would look at that decision a little more carefully -- you might be actually displacing Sigma/Tamron and even Sony macro purchases rather than Zeiss). Unless there is a some sort of restricting agreement with Zeiss about this, it seems to me like a no-brainer for Cosina to re-issue the CV 125mm APO-Lanthar in Sony/Minolta lens mount.
If Sony allows a Zeiss ZA 24mm f1.4 (I suspect given Zeiss' traditional lens designation, that it would be a 25mm f1.4), that might just seal the deal with the Sony system for me. They really HAVE TO do this.
I can't wait for the ZE 100/2.0 to hit the market. I'm very, very interested in a direct comparison to the CV 125 (which I own). The examples I've seen of the original/older Zeiss 100/2.0 (not the macro) are simply stunning.

Just to make sure you understand, Jonas, can you vinally vigure out for yourselv that a German can newer say wide angle without hearing vide angle?
I'll have to think about that for some time, denken und schmertzen... Will I ever figure it out? Vielleicht.
On topic, I like my Zuiko 90/2. Is that Zeiss Planer really better?

That's not completely true. In Words like Vanille, Vagabund, variabel, Vatikan, Vegetarier, Vektor, Verb, Video, Vikar, Victor, Violine, Viper, Viren, Virtuose, Vision, Visum, Vitamin, Volumen the "v" is not pronounced "f". But for Voigtländer the answer is correct, it is pronounced like Fogt...

How would this ZE100/2.0 compares to the converted Contax N100/2.8?
Hmmm. I supposed it would be incumbent on me to provide a test since I have both lenses (ZF and N). But I haven't gone there yet. Maybe around the end of next week, as I have to go out of town tomorrow for a few days.

Boris
Ooops, you are right of course Boris. I tried it out on half a dozen words, like Volk, Vertreter, vertrauen, vielleicht but that was clearly not a good enough sample. My apologies for misleading the honourable Jonas. May I ask, it seems that the words on your list that are not pronounced like Voigtländer seem to be of foreign origin. Could this explain that?

Yes, could be. I had the same thoughts at least. Many of these words have their origin in latin. But this is quite often the case in all european languages.

I'm sure the price will be about whatever the ZF.2's are in the US. The original 100/2 ZF is $1450 at B&H; the 50/2 is ZF.2 is $1280. A mint Contax 100/2 is ~$900+, plus the adapter and Contax accessories - it adds up quickly too. With some careful shopping on Ebay with a 10% bing.com kick-back plus the 2-4% Ebay bucks (depends if they are running promo), one can net the new ZE's at 12-14% less than the prices posted at the on-line stores.
Only if you are in the states, no bing for Australia.
Im very excited about the 100/2 , I have almost decided to go for the canon 100/2.8IS , but now I do have something to think about , although the zeiss would easily be 500$ more !

+1.
Luckily, I didn't have the funds this year to buy a CZ 100/2. Having that lens with auto-exposure will be a dream. What a lens.....
I sure hope work picks up, so I can snag one next year.
