I put this in the processing section too but I shoot mostly weddings and wanted to see if any of you had any experience with this.

Just curious how many of you all are using a parallels program like boot camp to run windows based software on their mac? Have you had any problems or any major pain in the you know what. There is a couple programs that I use and I am just getting tired of running back and forth to my Dell.

nope... we run all macs and all of the software we need runs just fine.

Perhaps you should list what your using on your pc that isn't working on the mac.... and hopefully maybe someone can point you towards a similar program that does work on mac.

well one of the programs that I would be using is proshow gold. I love at and I have a great workflow with it. Also after reading the fotofusion thread I was thinking of picking that up too.

I have a separate windows boot disk. Only time I really go into it is to play COD4.

You should try VMware fusion, my wife has this setup on her Mac, She needs the proshow producer that runs only on windows. It works perfectly

Hi,

Parallels and Bootcamp are two different things. Parallels will let you run Windows virtually on Mac OS X. Bootcamp takes a portion of your boot drive and you would install Windows into that. This becomes a dual boot configuration; if you're in Mac OS X you'd have to reboot into Windows. I use Parallels (they just released version 5) and it runs very well. Check out their website for more information.

Regards,
Marc

I have a spare Dell box that I use rather than put win apps on my mac or have to install other patches.

I also use the VMWare Fusion on my iMac. I have never had any trouble with it at all! I absolutely hate to use Windows to be completely honest, but there are some things that aren't made for Mac so I have to and that is what I use!

Virtual Box is free, and will do the trick. Can't hurt to try at the price. I like it, but I am a huge geek. http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
