p.1 #1 · Frozen Reflections along the Merced

No, it isn't recent. This is from digging around overlooked images from last Feb.
You can tell I am getting impatient for the Winter in Yosemite.;-)

#2 Mirage in Winter

Taken from Swinging Bridge, just after major snowfall.
I know, the highlights in #1 might be a bit much. Tried layers, highlights, etc, but ends up looking to flat, artificial.
So I guess it is "high key" landscape

Dan, waiting for the first Winter storms.

Hi,

Prefer the first to the second one, the latter just gave me vertigo ....

Is there a blue cast to the images or the calibration on my monitor?

Dan... nice work. Agree with Mirza on the second one, but am digging the first. Looking at the trees i the background, the blue shadows look pretty real and only serve to enhance the feeling of cold.

Hey Dan,

Cool shots to bring out. I would definately say that you are chomping at the bif for some snow! I like the first one most, I think with the snow in these, the bit of blown highlights is fine. The bit of blue cast doesn't bother me, it's pretty natural when shooting scenes like these. And plus I have found if the blue cast is removed completely you end up losing most of your defination and all the snow just turns into one huge pile of white...

Sorry, Mirza and Jim, lol, but my favorite is the second one.
Inspired, creative and dreaming.
Great work.

First one is excellent, only problem is that I get goosebumps when looking at it

Thank you Javier, a kindred spirit I have a title for #2, "Mirage in Winter"!

And of course thanks to others. I played with WB but I agree w/Jim. If you make it flat white it looks lifeless to me. There was a tinge of blue on a Winters Morn.

Karl, that's why I wear about 3 layers of clothes.

A beautiful foretaste of what (we hope!) is yet to come . Love the filigree silver effect of both these studies ; I agree that the slight colour tints are realistic and essential elements of both these fine studies .
