I busted out my back up 5D recently to do some casual shooting. Then I noticed that when I look into my viewfinder (eyepiece), all the data displayed at the bottom (ISO, f-stop, shutter, exposure) does not show up anymore !
The only thing that works in the eye viewfinder are the AF points lighting up.
Has this ever happened to anyone ? Any idea what it could be ?
I don't have my 5D anymore, but I don't recall a function to disable the viewfinder display. You might try "reseting" the camera by removing the main and backup battery, then replacing them and trying again. It might also be a good idea to check the backup battery with a proper (coin type battery) tester to be sure it isn't depleted.
Yep happened to me out of the box with my 5d MKII, now the info was there but all screwed up kind of like an old digital clock in a car where an 8 looked like a 6 (does that make sense) because parts of the dot matrix display were not working, it came back from canon with fuses replaced and fiewfinder assembly replaced, oh yeh, they also put the contents of the office vacum cleaner into the viewfinder it was filty!!!!!!!!!!!!
