For my wife's 30D (since I upgrade to 7D ...so this older one is hers now ....yeah ..) Been looking around for something from wide ( around 15mm) to telephoto (arond 200mm) with some kind of image stable system ....

Tamron 18-270mm/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) Macro

Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS

Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical IF Macro (This is a bit short on the wide end...)

try to dig around , but can't find too many reviews on them ...

18-270 is probably the best choice and is optically decent enough.
