p.1 #1 · which program to use for HDR?

I want to make an HDR photo for the first time, but I don't know any programs.
what's a easy to use, free program that I could use?
and I took like 9 shots with bracketing mode but to my knowledge HDR pics are usually created with just 3 pics right?
any tips would be great.
thanks.

HDR can be created from a lot more than 3 depending on the range of tones in the scene. Like anything else , good HDR is about SO much more than the application and generally learning an application is a whole lot more nuanced than it seems at first blush. I use a few programs but i would recommend Photomatix as a good start, bet even that application takes a lot of time to learn what works best for a given set of images

Photomatix is the standard and does a great job. It's free to try (leaves a watermark), and $99 to buy. Not sure if there are any free programs out there, but I'm sure someone will chime in.

Also, you can create an HDR with any number of photos (OK, within reason )

I just started using Dynamic Photo and I really like it.

Here are 2 examples I did my first day of using Dynamic Photo.

Made w/ 3 exposures:

This one is just a tonemapped single exposure jpg:

I have a good friend that uses "qtpfsgui" and it's free. So you might want to check it out to get your feet wet.

I like that shot of the bridge. I find almost every HDR picture too much for my tastes but that bridge look natural.
Good job!
