hello again folks. I had a break in the ever constant apocalyptic gloom that is the natural state of things in the great pacific northwest, where we all grow moss in our armpits and keep giant slugs for guard dogs. heck i bet you didnt know Tim and Tom didnt buy kayaks for birding... they use them to commute to work.

anywhooo ill lead off with a possible intermediate morph (rufous) red tail. the unusally orange breast and slightly darker plumage looked a little different than the norm. anybody feel free to weigh in what they think it is.

Hey Dave!

I think I know your first bird

http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/834954

Nice shot of the guy, he sure doesn't seem to mind having his picture taken. Nice shot of the wren, wonderful lighting. The focus may have hit his shoulder (?) Mr Hoody is sure looking sweet in that amber water Well done!

Hi Dave and welcome back! So this is the bird that lunged at Tim Gosh that is a wonderful shot showing all the beautiful color and patterns, nice one

Gotta love those little Wrens, sooooo much character and chatter, great shot and I am with Tim on the focus, oh so very very close!

Megranser, a beauty, congrats!

Images are way to big IMO though, maybe 900ish on the long side or so?

Out of all that "gloom" rises #2 and #3 which are splendid. What a great way to raise the spirits. Nice shots.

Some beauties in this set, Dave. Love the colors you captures in each of these.

Thanks for the info about the gaurd dog slugs. I met with Tim and Tom a few weeks ago up in Seattle and wondered what those things were in the back of Tim's car

WOW rofl what a trip. your shot im sure is the same bird. but in the same tree on the exact same branch! haha what are the chances. thanks for posting that link tim and the great comments. so the head being slightly OOF is cause by motion. in processing the raw the eye glint is elongated because he was twitching alot. unfortunatly that was the best frame.

A bit of a story about that wren. i was hunkered down in some reeds on a muddy shore for quite some time hoping the hoodies would get close and that wren had been hopping around behind me for 20 minutes making quite the fuss at my presence. it finally became quite excessive when the wren hopped out in plain sight and seemingly was challending me. so i though fine you want your photo taken i get it! snap snap and he he seemed satisfied his job was done and left me alone after that =)

Noted about the size. thanks.
