p.1 #1 · Stuff storage in mixed trip photo/other things

I thought it would be interesting to share the experiences of where to store the gear in a trip abroad when you are not spending 24h/24h shooting where do you put your stuff? This is especially tricky when doing wildlife photography, a 800mm will never fit in an hotel safe

My experience: in Florida I rent a storage place (the smallest) in a air conditionned facility with 24h security, and during the trip we could get rid off the photo stuff each time we wanted to go shopping, to go to the restaurant, or to the beach, etc. The freedom for 70$ for 2 weeks, not bad, I think

And you?

I'd like to know what people do too. Next summer i am going to the USA on a 2month road trip so won't even have a permanent base.

But i've looked around and i've seen that some of Thinktank's rollers have a security cable (Airport International V2.0 is one of them.) it's not going to be 100% secure, but it's better than nothing i guess.

Insurence is the best
And keeping the lens or camera in a "good hotel" safe deposit will probably be as good as renting a storage place.
I had my 800 lens with me for 2½ months in Thailand & Laos this year

Yeah, but with that mustache, who's gonna mess with you?

Peace,

Todd

But generally hotel have small safe, it is quite unusual for an hotel to have a big safe, from my experience

Carrying a 800mm all around for 2months: this is slavery

They have a small safe in the room. But the hotel itself has a big safe. And any descent hotel take care of a lens or camera if you need that. And keep it in their safe
