p.1 #1 · Porsche Panamera S, first 3D panorama

After the Cayman S, we got to test the Panamera S, Porsche's love it or hate it sedan. Here's probably the only 3D panorama of the car and some shots. You can check out the whole test drive here. Any comments are welcome.

First the panorama.

love photos!!! i think i like the car. i have a 96 twin turbo at the moment. This car looks very sweet but not that i will ever trade my air cool for a water cool anytime soon!

are the numbers on the wall there for a reason? otherwise i think it is distracting.

GOOD JOB!

Thanks man. No, they were just painted on the wall and I thought they spice up the shots a bit, make the background a bit exotic. But they can be seen as a distraction, that's true.

As for the car itself, it's one fast monster. Unfortunately, it's way to wide, wider than a Bentley that is.

Check out the panorama too. Actually, don't do it if you love animals. I think some particular cows won't be too pleased.

really nice, i checked out the pano 3D, very interesting and very nice interior, i like it a lot! thanks for sharing it on FM, sometimes i just envy you guys that have these chances to shoot these exotic cars!
As for the numbers on the wall, the first one does not bother me that much but the one on #2 is definitly a distraction for the clean roof line. In #3, i think removing the number 27 would have been better, just leaving 26 on the far side is ok.

I think you did a great job on the pano, clearly shows the quality of the interior. The photos above ........well.....sorry but I don't see anything about them that flatters the car. I don't care for the setting and compositions. The exposures look dark and color looks too cool. Overall they seem rushed from concept to PP. Sometimes that works, but not for me with this series.

Thanks for the comments Peter. The colors are indeed cool, but that was on purpose. Personally, I liked the contrast between the Panamera and a dirty, grundgy background, but of course, I took the shots so I could be biased.

I think this comes down to style with possibly age also coming into play. I get the contrast you were going for with the gritty set but I'm heading into geezer territory and these images may be more appealing to a younger person.

Bias is good! It's what we are. Thanks for taking my comments well.

And of course, there's also the fact that photography is extremely subjective. Photographers can have completely different tastes. Once again, thanks for the comment.

Photographically great! Aesthetics of the car, not so great. Reminds me of an XKE 2+2, or a 928 with doors welded on the rear. Some forms aren't meant to be altered. A stretched 911 isn't my cup of tea.

I was coming down from Arroyo Grande and pulled off to one of the scenic stops and a group of 10 of these pulled up, very interesting looking. Not too crazy about it yet tho.

Ha! The only way to flatter that car is to shoot it in a tunnel with a 10 stop ND using natural light!

It fell out the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.....and this is coming from a diehard Porsche lover!

Hahaha. You're not the only one who says that. It seems that Porsche fans hate it even more than regular people.

It's a monster, Porsche seem to do it every time.... new off-roader? Add a 911 nose onto a truck. New saloon? Add a 911 nose onto some bulbous Scimitar GTE type contraption.

You're not speaking with a real Porsche crowd then!

There will always be those that dislike certain breeds of the brand like the 928 guys who dislike any other P-car or the air-cooled guys that don't have a clue about the newer cars or how the newer owners don't understand the nostalgia of owning an air-cooled P-car.

The Panamera is a great car for what it achieves and that's 911 performance in a saloon that tops other cars in and out of it's class (Caddy, MB, BMW, Jaguar).

Photos truly don't do this car any justice, it really is a must see and drive in person kind of car. Lucky I got to test all three variants before public release and if i could afford to spend money on a not so super spacious 4 door hatchback with balls I'd own one.

+1 well stated.... I will never give up my 993 but may add some water in the form of a GT3 some day.

BTW nice pictures, keep'em coming.

Don't like the car. This isn't a true P Car...

Anyways. The shots don't do much for me personally. The setting doesn't flatter the car at all, and the background doesn't contrast enough for me to see that look that you were going for.

However, you're the one with the opportunity to shoot high end cars, so what do I know?

Thanks for sharing!
