p.1 #1 · 2010 Lexus IS350C F-Sport package

Got to shoot this beautiful car as another perk of the job. Decided to take some time and try to do it right. Unfortunately driving across a dry lake bed leaves you with a VERY VERY dirty car and I was ill equipped to clean the vehicle properly. I have my own reservations about a few small aspects of some of the photos, but overall I spent a lot of time on these and I'm pretty happy with them. Please any comments good/bad or indifferent are encouraged! Hope you like em

Nice, Number 4 is sweet, love how the calipers pop.
Foreground texture is a nice plus.

feels like you're too far from the car in all the pictures.

I like 3 and 4, especially 4. However, you should try a tighter crop and include more sky and less ground. The same goes for the first, more sky and less ground (yet, it also works the other away around, more ground less sky, just don't have equal proportions of the two). In my opinion, you could further improve 1 by desaturating the yellow on the car's front fascia and make it a bit cooler.

Overall, a good job, considering the car if black and the sun is harsh.

#1 the car looks very cut and pasted in the photo, the front wheel angle is very strange, almost looks like it is coming off the car in a twisted angle. The rest is very nice, i like #3 and #4, thanks for sharing!

I think #1 would be great if the wheels were turned to the left instead of the right.

number 1 is my favorite. Mind sharing your settings, post editing and lighting?

#4 is the money shot in this series imo. On your neext trip try to be more aware of the cars shadow, I think the first three would have been nice if it werent for the shadows.....just my $.02

Typically I do have a lot more of one than the other, I think that the fact that there was essentially a never ending horizon in these shots added to the half/half effect but I definitely know what you mean. I was certainly more concerned with the placement of the car than the horizon, something to keep in mind going forward.

I'm getting a lot of people that are seeing some sort of optical illusion like you are in #1. I can assure you the car isn't striped into the frame and the wheel wasn't moved or distorted from the raw file at all.

Can you be more specific on what info you are interested in? I don't mind sharing info at all but I'm not going to sit here and retrace everything start to finish, all of these have many hours worth of work in them.

yeah that would be easier haha. to start how did you layer the sky on the first picture? First it's dark blue, then gets ligther, then white... did you combine multiple exposures? and is this natural light for the first picture?

Just took multiple frames like you guessed and blended them with layer masks. All of the lighting is natural except for the wheels/tires/brakes were filled with strobes.
