hi Nina,

Cute dogs.

I can see why they are called Pappillons.

What causes their ears to look like that? Do they get clipped or something when young (like Dobermans and some other breeds)?

At this time of year, it is fun to see your sets with the dogs and presents and props. I am sure the other dog lovers must enjoy these too.

Thanks for posting them here for us to see.

Let's see.........#2 is simply a wonderful portrait, I like the pose better than #3. Colors, focus and vignetting all really work well together.

The last one has to be the perfect visual discription of the word "precious." About the only thing I don't like about it is the internal "glow" impinging on the top right ear.

great work!

thanks all ..

greg, I agree, framed on the web, the feathered edges aren't that great, but printed on holiday cards, the feather blend to the edge pops the pictures, guess I could prepare them both ways, but didn't think of it

Steady
Papillon means butterfly, these are quite an old breed, and got their name from their butterfly ears. Here is the AKC link for more info http://www.akc.org/breeds/papillon/

this is a picture of little Newton at 2 1/2 months old ... as you can see, his ears are au natural (and I do outdoor portraits too)

#3 is just about as perfect as it's going to get. And I like you how made them all look so calm. The papillions I know are usually so eager to lick your face they just can't stop squirming.
