Been a while since I last posted in Landscapes..

New Brighton Beach, UK. This is a HDR combining 4 exposures with a half a stop in between, and a GND was used while shooting.

Great shot. I would not have guessed it was actually HDR if you hadn't mentioned the fact. Well done with the HDR as it looks very realistic and doesn't suffer from lack of contrast or over saturation.

Great shot here WK. No way does it look like an HDR! Well done.

Thanks guys. I wish I had just gone a smudge lower, the sand patterns are awkwardly cropped off and I did not notice until it was too late.

Some guys elsewhere suggested brightening up the foreground a little.. Here's the result, what do you think?

I'm with Binh. The original is nicer for me, too. Lovely light and excellent work to get this to not look like an HDR.

Actually I'll be the odd man out and choose the second one. I like the slightly nicer color and contrast renditions in the second one over the first.

Either way this is what HDR is supposed to help us with - giving us an image that looks like what we saw instead of cartoon imagery. Nicely executed WK.

Both versions are attractive and I would be happy with both , so no choice from me ! I'm a bit puzzled as to the combination of HDR and GND here ; could you not achieve the same result with one or the other technique?

Thanks Alan.

Adrian - I can't use GND here, because I use Tian Ya filters from China for GND.. Too cheap to get anything even like Cokin.. Though when I start work proper I might get a set of Singh Rays. The Tian Ya GND filter comes only in a 2 stop variety ONLY, sadly that's insufficient to hold back the sun.

As for why HDR, I'm not sure about you guys, but I find that the lesser images I use, the more natural looking the end result, so I don't have to spend too much time trying to make it look normal. Maybe it's just my imagination, but I'm used to doing that so I did it.. :P
