Last bridal portraits in our current studio space. We've had a great run in that location, but for various reasons we're having to move on to something new.
Shot number three, I'd been shooting strobe but switched to using just the modeling lights without telling the bride. She didn't realize I was shooting, and lost herself in thoughts of her groom and her wedding while I apparently "fiddled with the camera." This shot is a little more raw, and maybe less "pretty happy bride," but there's not a doubt in my mind that its the best and most authentic photograph in the set.
Evan, it could just be my monitor (30" Dell, calibrated), but the highlights look really harsh in all of these. They are all very nice, but the highlights detract from the elegance a bit. Is there any way to dial these back in post processing a bit?
And I'm going to go against the grain here and say that #6 is my favorite.
Jamie: I'll take another look at the highlights. All of them retain detail, but by definition white-on-white forces me to tiptoe up to the upper registers. These were quick edits for a client that needs a rush turnaround to proof and decide on a print (which will get more love) and I may massage some more before they reach the blog. Good critique.
Hey Evan! I haven't talked to you much recently, hope things are going well. This set is exactly what I love and why you are my photo hero! I get so excited every time I see a new bridal set from you. 2,4, and 6 are my faves. 2 and 6 are faves due to the perfect lighting that I am so jealous of and 4 for her posing which is so elegant. My only teeny tiny nit pick is with #5, I don't love her expression and there is something bright green coming from behind her right at her left hip. No idea what it could be.

maybe a dell thing...
first impression that hit me: harsh high lights....
#3 is fav -
really like #4 too.... it might be me but the edge trim on the floor looks ever slightly tilted(+#5).
2 is my pick....lovely pose and expression. I also like 6 a lot. It reminds me of one you did earlier this year that was very similar....maybe that's why I like it.
If I had to guess which she'd choose, it would be either 1 or 2.
