p.1 #1 · Macro first try

Ok so it's not truly macro I guess but it's my first try. I still think the shot came out cool.

Comments welcome

Well, you're right, it's not macro. However, I'll give you credit for attempting a BIF, bee in flight, for your first attempt. Move in and get close to that bee.

Honestly the bee just happened to fly in while I was pulling up on the lemon blossom.

Feel free to move the pic to the other forum admins. I think I was as close as I could get with my 28-135. Just having fun really. No tripod or anything staged.

great attempt. You did a fine job. Keep practicing and before you know it you will look back at this photo and feel proud. It takes a lot of practice. Good luck and keep shooting.

There's a lot of potential for beauty in bee in flight images.

Two very crucial facets of this are:

- the bee must be sharp
- the background must have a lot of space to breathe (bokeh)

Hope to see more attempts from you, when you meet the above criteria you will look back on this pic and scoff.

Cool. I don't really have any macro gear but with some of Tom's suggestions, I might be able to fake it a little.

Thanks again

You don't need macro gear. Get a cheap extension tube ring set from Fleabay and use your sharpest lens with a manual aperture dial (as long as it has a range from 50mm to 100mm).
