The team I follow has made it to the quarterfinals, I'm fairly certain they are going to Win Saturday and I'm hoping there are some friendly faces down in Champaign in the even that that happens. Perhaps even a friendly hand, lending out a friendly longer lens
*might* be down there. Cary-Grove is from my area, but there is a decent possibility the paper will choose just to send a freelancer :-( Our writer is pretty certain C-G will take the state, who knows :-)

Cary Grove is going, and they are winning. Excellent athletes, and their coach has gotten them to understand the option better than any high school team I've ever seen.
I'd like to see them go -1) I live in Highland so it's about as "local" as it gets and 2) I'm originally from St. Joseph (St. Joseph-Ogden High School) and Unity is SJO's big rival. Not sure they have the guns to stop the Rockets though - they really seem to be on a roll.
How is the field after the rain this week?
Tim - it's the semi-finals, and good luck against Montini. Interesting bracket in 5A this year.

As an alum, I suppose I care in that sense, but ever since I watched this same team win in '97 from the stands, I wanted to be part of a Football State Championship, it didn't happen for me on the field, so maybe as someone who has covered the team all year.
Should be fun either way.

Woodstock High School's Scott Rausch celebrates the Blue Streaks' IHSA Class 5A quarterfinal victory over Glenbard South Saturday night. Rausch kicked a field goal and scored two touchdowns in the 44-35 victory over the Raiders.

I'm from Woodstock. Who do you work for
I shoot for the Daily Herald. Shooting some semi-final tonight! Glenbard North against Marist (from Chicago I guess).
And it looks like we already have someone going down to Champaign. :'-(
