A little of the greenery that can be found in Cairo, although under threat of the ever growing population. My office is close to the last tower in the third shot. On a clear day I can see about 17 pyramids.
very interesting, never having been there these seem very unexpected to me especially #2. it just feels so odd to see a carabao, coconut trees, and pyramids together!
Neat panoramas Henk - The tall parts of Cairo have grown a lot since I was there in the late 70's. It is always interesting seeing the contrast of the urban encroachment and the farms using techniques that are depicted inside of the tombs.
Hi Henk,
You sure move around. Great to see you here again. It has been a long time.
These are very different from your Empty Quarter dunes classics. I hope you will get out of town and show us some local classics.
We are discussing as trip to Egypt in May. Are you available as a tour guide? We need some local knowledge!

Thanks, Binh. They are not coconut, but date palms!

Nice views Henk, thanks for taking us on the cooks tour. I really like the second must be tough to concentrate on work with a view like that.
Mike
Not that bad, Mike. A lot of times they are obscured by pollution. I was lucky on to have a clear day because it's the season of burning the left overs of the harvest.
I needed some scenic shots of the nile, and took advantage of the relative lack of pollution... though I am sure that same pollution makes for some beautiful sunsets from your office.

No problem, Henry. Now based in Jordan, but drop me a PM when you need something.

Thank you, Ben. It's a nice spot, but when the sun sets, I'm already back in the hotel

Cool shots and the landscape surprises me as I would have thought it was dryer than what I see. The images seem to be a little over sharpened to me.
Thanks! It is quite dry: 95% of the country is desert. This is one of the green spots along the Nile.
Oversharpened? Well, I post in 60% jpeg quality. That might have played an issue.
