The grapes were so beautiful that my husband brought home. They just begged to be photographed. I didn't have any wine in the house, not even an empty bottle! (Someone throws stuff like that away—can you imagine!??) So I pulled out some bubbly grape juice we had in the fridge, and set this up. (Don't tell anybody it's not wine...)
My son is the wine expert in the family and everybody knows it all tastes like vinegar to me. But it is beautiful to photograph!
C&C welcome and appreciated.
Very beautiful Martha, the tone/color/reflection combo is very strong. My first thought was, before reading your remark, where's the cork Your son may have a hard time with this image...
The lighting is very good, my only nit would be that it's a bit strong on the left side of the grapes...
You're right, Zeph! I need to do something about that left side.
I have uploaded the vertical version of the same setting, which I like best! I have printed it as a 16x20 and my husband wants to hang it in the dining area.
Ron, I would be featuring the bottle if it were wine. But being Welch's fizzy grape juice didn't seem to warrant a feature. Guess Welch would disagree, though.
I think they're both extremely good. My perception isn't influence by any regard for wine; I just think they're beautiful photographs. I can easily see why your husband wants a big print to hang on the wall.
Good point, Ron. I'll have to re-do it. It is a nice "winey" label, at that.
However, my son, a wine hobbyist (sp?) has told me that he and his wife will be serving a wine this week end that is a high-end wine with a beautiful label, and he's going to save the bottle for me. He says the color is right.
So, while I'm photographing the wine bottle, I'll also photograph Welch's. Who knows: Maybe I can get them to purchase the use of the photo for an ad!
