My condolences on your loss Lil. That's gotta be hard. I've never had a bird for a pet but I've lost a few well-loved dogs over the years. It's never easy.
The Mandarins are just plain stunning. Great work.

Lil - I'm so sorry for your loss of your beloved pet. You clearly cherished every minute you had with him.
Great shots of the Mandarin Duck - I think #2 is fantastic , and also really like #7.
Keep 'em coming!
Thank you Jim,
not necessarily every minute - but most. It is a heavy loss....
Thank you for the top picks of my Mandarin shots & I'm happy you enjoyed them.

Thank you Allan,
the loss of any pet hurts. Dogs because they love us unconditionally. With a bird like this you earn your love. And once given - unconditional & so very deep. The connection so very strong. No loss of life is easy - this is harder due to his horrible death. So unnecessary & hard....
Thank you for your kind words on my Mandarin shots.
Sorry for your loss. I believe that you gave him the best life you could! I think that even though it died at 20, and yeah they live to 100, that if it was wild it may very well have died at 5 because of some predator! I know this does not help you to get over losing such a beloved pet, but I hope maybe it helps ease the pain!

Those Mandarin Images are wonderfulrifical!
Thank you so very much, for sure something to think about.
I was so sorry to hear about your loss of Marahute. The manner of his death must make it all the more painful for you.
Our animals give us so much love, pleasure and joy. Our sorrow at their passing is the price we all must pay eventually.
If you were to come to Australia for our summer, I could show you flocks of our Aussie sulphur crested cockatoos stripping our fruit trees of fruit. Not our most popular summer visitor. (I know your Marahute was an Umbrella Cockatoo, but the Sulphur crested cockies look very similar.)

the manner of his death has been very upsetting to us . If he'd not been a bully he would have walked away from the raccoon. Instead I know he faced it. It's very hard.
I know you have Sulphur Crested Cockatoos wild there. He was from the Moluccan Islands - well he was born here, but his parents.
Thank you for the support & I hope to one day see Sulphur Crested Cockatoos flying in the wild.
