W.A.C. Bennet Dam and Williston Reservoir in NE British Columbia, Canada. Built from 1963-1968 on the Peace River. The reservoir, once filled, flooded the Finlay and Peace River valleys and became the largest man made lake on the planet. Height of earthen filled dam is 186 metres (610 ft), length is 2,068 metres (1.28 mi), and the Gordon M. Shrum Generating Station with ten 273,000-KW generating units has a total capacity of 2,730 MW, with an average ebergy capability of 13,100 GWh/year at the time it came online provided British Columbia, and in particular the Lower Mainland and the City of Vancouver with electricity.
This view is from the top of Bullhead Mountain. Rip on it, all constructive criticism welcome!
I like this, although as a contrast freak I'd prefer more contrast.
Calling it the largest man-made lake on the planet piqued my interest. I've been to Williston several times and knew it was big, but I suspected it was not THAT big, so I Googled the subject. You might want to research it a bit more.
No offense intended, it's just that statements like "The world's biggest, smallest, longest, shortest, etc." bring out the researcher in me.

Really nice composition. It seems as though it would be better if there were a little more retained detail on the surface of the water. It looks blown out but, of course, I can't really tell from this image.
Charlie, I usually go for way more contrast, too, but thought holding back a bit suited the gradual haziness the farther back into the 'hills' you looked. Also, sorry, I should have firstly double-checked my research, but also I had actually intended to but did not add an "at the time of completion" to the statement, and probably should also have added "man-made" in front of 'largest'... And no offense taken, so no worries!
simdoc1, the lake was unusually calm with the little amount of wind there was for a change, and was reflecting the bright overcast sky, as I chose not to polarize this time so the water would stand out from the darker treed areas. Maybe I did leave it a little too bright though...
