p.1 #1 · Minolta 135 f/2.8 MF

I found an old Minolta 135 f/2.8 manual focus lens. This is from an old SR mount Minolta. I can't seem to find any info on this lens anywhere, which makes me think its nothing special.

Has anyone ever used this lens? Can I easily adapter to an EF mount (I've seen that the registration distance on some Minoltas are different than Canon)? The price the guy guy wants is $30 it includes a Minolta SR-IS camera a Nikon FG a Vivitar flash for each and a tripod. The only thing I may want is the lens so the rest would be sold, if possible.

Thanks,

Joe Conklin

Minolta's are narrower and have shorter register distances.
You either need to get your canon's mount replaced or an adapter. Problem is, the adapters aren't easily come by and involve glass to retain infinity.

That's what I was afraid of. I saw one site where a guy put his on a lathe to shorten the registration distance by .5mm (the site said the registration distance was .5mm longer than canon). This might have been a different mount. If that were the case I may have been able to modify the lens and get it to work. There is no way I am going to replace the mount in my camera

Well I knew a 135mm prime for $30 was too good to be true.

A $30 Minolta/Sony Alpha mount 135 prime is still a good price!

True, but if it won't mount to my canon it doesn't do me too much good.

I was really hoping I could by an adapter or modify the lens and make it work, but it seems the consensus here and on POTN is that it won't work.

Which version of the 135mm f2.8 do you have (at least 6 different versions)? The earlier versions of this lens are easier to convert since the aperture control is independent of the mount. You can just remove the old mount and put the new mount in. A sample on a converted one:
