p.1 #1 · Last of the fall colors for the color blind

Two captures from Yosemite Valley. Colors are dwindling fast now. These from the last week or so. Waiting for the snows to fall. Being afflicted with slight color blindness, I never know what exactly others see, but the colors were sure purdy that day. The first is of a favorite tree in El Capitan meadow near the river, the second from Cook Meadow near Yosemite Village.

I really like the 1st one Jim. Your favorite tree is very dominant like it should be. A great protagonist in the scene.

Jim, I now see how you do great color pics: you don't see/discard the "bad" picture before you even click. Easy process
Well how ever you do your trick, #2 is my choice. I have no idea that the Valley still has colors.

Thanks very much for your comment. I like the composition also on this one. Taken with Canon's new 17mm TS-E. I've found myself, as of late, shooting more with wide angles. I like the 14mm, but this lens has very nice optics also and, in addition, has the tilt/shit capabilities. It's really very nice to use the tilt/shift features when composing shots. Still learning how to use it, but I tend to use it quite a bit. Again, thanks very much for your comments.

Yeah know, I've taken many, many shots of this particular tree. It stands out against the rest. It holds it's colors later than the surroundings trees in the fall and has a nice shape to it. This is one of the few shots that I liked that had the color contrast to it which made it as special as it really is. Thanks very much for your comments.

Hey Doc, thanks...

Have reservations at the "inn" for four days in mid February. Will make reservations for dinner at the Ahwahnee on the 14th. You and your beautiful wife interested for horsehair that weekend? Anybody else interested? Thanks for your very nice comments.

Thanks very much, I think I've always found that there are only so many great trees in life.....and that to photograph them through the seasons...brings immeasurable pleasure...

Two beauties, Jim. I love the soft light you caught in the Valley, and the colors look spot on to me, and beautiful.

I like #2 but the tree in the first represents itself well, holding on to the colors.
Coming from another color blind guy, I think you got the colors right
Nice work with the T/S. One of these days...
I was there only two weeks ago, cant' wait to get back after the first snows, perhaps late Dec.

Jim

Very nice set you really captured the feeling of Fall here very nicely. Really like your comp in #2 and the predominate green hue of colors, very nicely seen here Jim

I like the first one in particular. The late autumn rust/gold combination is very pleasing, and that's an amazing tree.

Hello Jim, Yep, a super tree retaining it's strong color late into the season. Good work.
