I sold it here for $1300, so they still got a good deal.( about $2000 normally )
I didn't have a use for it at the time, now I wish I had hung on to it and played with it for a while
Last year the Nikon SB-900 had just come out and I was in NYC at the Javitts Center for the PDN Photoplus show. Asked at a few booths, but everyone wanted $489.00 or so for the flash. I was bummed, too rich for my blood.
Later in the day, I went to a small booth (can't remember the company) where my partner was buying some stuff. Saw an SB-900 box in the glass case, asked half-seriously, "How much are *you* getting for that?" The guy looks, says, "$419.00", and I said, "SOLD!" It was brand-new, never touched.
And for some icing on the cupcake, a few minutes later, while standing by the Nikon exhibit watching Joe McNally go through his spiel, I hear Joe mention David Hobby (from Strobist.org) and Joe points in my direction! I glance around, and Hobby is standing next to me. I pull my flash out of my Nikon shwag bag, tap him on the shoulder and say, "Hey, Dave, you're to blame for me having 4 SB-800's and now buying this SB-900, so you have to autograph it for me!", so I went home with a deal-busting flash in a box autographed by David Hobby! A good day.
i got Nikon17-35mm for $600.00 CAN - guy said that front element was scratched to death.

A fellow FMer pointed out a really low price on the 70-300VR. About 80 bucks lower than anywhere else. The dealer was Roberts, and they honored the price. Now, the thing goes for almost 200 more than I paid.
A couple years back I bought a used F100. The next day I recieved an email from seller confirming that it had shipped. In the message he told me he couldn't find the body cap, so to keep the mirror chamber protected he had attached an old manual focus lens he didn't have use for. When It arrived, the "body cap" was a very nice condition 105 2.8micro AIS!

Nikkor 105mm 2.8 AF-D for $150. - Bought it from a pawn shop that was getting out of the pawn business, and into the payday loan business. Was priced at $200, I offered them $175. They said that they couldn't go that low, but would give me 25% off of the asking price. I accepted
SB-800 in excellent shape for $200 from another pawn shop.
I always try to keep my eyes open for a good deal, and jump on it when I see one.
* bought a 12-24 a year ago for $400, ebayed it for $850 a month ago, put that towards a 14-24 that I picked up for $1500
* used 18-200 for $500 (net after cashback)
* picked up a d700 for 2040 (with cashback) before the price increase
* pick up a 24-70 for $1500
I've saved somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 using bing cashback since it's inception, all on things I would have purchased anyway.
