There was a thread on FM a while back that had a truck+camper built specifically for on-site sales directly out of the truck. The camper shell had side windows that lifted and inside, workstations/monitors swung out on each side. It was incredibly ingenous but I can't find the thread and I figured I'd start a thread for others to show theirs.
I just bought a van that I am going to be modifying for photography specific purposes. It will be mostly to transport equipment (so I need to build storage). However I also want to build a mini-sleeper/camper setup where I can park inconspicuously and sleep overnight with bed and small a/c and heat unit. I'm not going to go as far as bathroom/sink/stove, but I at least want a bed and 110v service (that I can run inside from outlet or generator). I can bird bath and freshen up in a Wal-Mart bathroom if I have to.
Also with the 110v service, I want to be able to have a small computer workstation/desk for editting, backup, tether internet via phone, provide wifi hotspot, etc.
I'm not for showing anyone my vehicle. I understand that these are specifically modded vehicles for it, but unless there's a reason, no way.
For me, the less people that know what my car look like, that's less people who know what car to jack some expensive, or at least may have some expensive equipment in it.
we have been using LR Defender from our heritage country for a while and love it. Modding is dead simple and is also very sexy. Another point, nobody judges your income based on that. Also is very multipurpose:
Was not photo specific. It was a 36' Cat Scan vehicle made by Calumet coach. Cost new: $250k. Stolen and recovered, purchased at auction with the cat scan.
I stretched it 4', added a hot tub and kitchen. Note the wheelchair lift on the ground. Cat diesel, auto trans, 7 mpg, 50,000 gvw, 15 kw 3 phase generator. sold it about 3 years ago.

I really love the guys who plaster "so-in-so's photography" on the side. Heck, in yellowstone this year there was a guy who had huge NIKON stickers all over his truck. Then they'll wonder why they get broke into...
kind of like the kids who plaster the name of their audio system or some car stereo store name on their windshield or rear window. Why not just make it simple and get some decals that say "Expensive Stuff Inside"?
