The second image has some elements that I've been noticing the last few weeks. Shot at a State Park near my house. Motor vehicles are not allowed inside the Park on the trails and such, but the lake sees heavy boat traffic from water skiers and fishermen. As the lake levels recede, I've been noticing patches of foam and what looks like boat pollution to me. This image has that blue green deposit of something that definitely looks unnatural and rather nasty along the shore in spots.
Rather ironic I thought
As always thanks for your thoughts, and for looking.
Brian,
Great lines in the second one...it sure makes for an attractive image. The sky is a beauty. I hope you worked with those lines and the grass on the left in the second image...John
First one for me with the nice skies about the visual trail of the waterway leading into the lake. The parallel lines of the shore in the second image are nice but I like the overall exposure in the first image a little more.
Thanks again everybody for your thoughts on these. I think that I could be happy with just my 10-22 on my 40D for that wide perspective that I seem to be into these days
And thanks Mike for that info.
They're both beautiful pictures- I love the comp and light in both.
This is probably a little OT, but do you think the second is a little too beautiful? Based on your post, I'm guessing you're bothered by the algae/pollution, but #2 makes it look so appealing (in particular, the color on the shoreline). On pure aesthetics, I actually prefer the 2nd but I'm more conflicted about it after reading your description.
Like I said, I really like both- and I don't think you need to make the location look "ugly" because of the circumstances- just wondering how you felt about it.

Thanks Khalil for your thoughts on that image. Certainly had no intention of making it look "ugly". The lines and perspective, and the color caught my eye and I wanted to use that to make an image in the style that I have,. I walk around that lake quite often and it is a beautiful spot. I live 5 minutes away from it, and every year it gets busier out there. I try to do my part to keep it clean, but my first thought is to get the shot, and then complain about the mess.
