p.1 #1 · banquet facilities brochure help needed | |
I could use a little help, idea, tips, etc. about a shoot that a friend of mine has asked me to do.
First off -- it is a barter style payment. I give him some photos to promote their new banquet facilities and he gives me a few free rounds of golf for me and some friends. Not a big money-maker but worth a few hundred bucks of golf.
The facility as described to me is a large event tent that is being converted from storage of ~80 golf carts to a smallish event/banquet facility. They envision small corporate events, wedding receptions, etc. in the future. It is a fledging golf course that is trying to build up some promotion working on a fairly low budget. They have a caterer scheduled to come in and set up tables, decorations, etc. in about a week, and they asked if I can get some photos in the afternoon after everything is set up. No people will be in the shots.
The end product needs to be about 4 or 5 shots of the facilities to be used on their website and in small flyers and mailers.
My experience is pretty much limited to shooting sports and portraits, so shooting an interior is new to me.
My camera and lens that seems most appropriate for the shoot: 5D with a 24-70 2.8L. I have no tilt-shifters.
The lights I have are 2 AB800s, a 550EX, and a 430EX. Can't use all four together as I have no wireless transmitters (the signal flash from the 550 to the 430 would trigger the strobes), but I could use as many as three.
Modifiers: 7" reflectors for the strobes, a 3' x 5' large softbox, and 20" x 30" softbox, and a 15" x 15" small softbox (for the 430EX).
I think the tent is white, so I may be able to do some pretty serious bouncing if that will help (or hurt?).
Should I shoot through the softboxes, or will the AB800s be way too weak for a large area? Bare bulbs maybe?
I am hoping to get access the day before the stuff is all setup to get a feel for my lighting setups and be able to practice without a lot of people waiting around.
Any kind of general setup tips or recommendations would be a great help!
They know that I am not normally this kind of photog, but since they are on the cheap with this whole deal, they are willing to take the chance that I can get them something decent.
