so my 15" macbook pro finally died and i upgraded to a 17" mbp and need a new laptop bag. i would like the bag to be able to hold at least 1 camera and at least 1 or 2 lenses.
nothing too crazy. we already have a crumpler backpack we take on destination shoots that is great when we would take 3 bodies, 5 lenses and 3 flashes and a few accss... we put the 17" mbp in it and it fits and we will continue to use this for destination shoots but now i want something smaller possibly that will hold my 17" and a camera for trips to the inlaws and such.
i just dont wanna lug a big bag or bring all my gear when we go away.
thanks
I actually switched to the 15" MBP from the 17" mainly bcoz of travek issues. The bags I had that did hold the 17" are the following:
Backpack : Think Tank Airport Addicted - BIG and bulky
Shoulder bag: Tamrac Turbo Cyberpro (hold a 17", two bodies with lens, with 3rd lens and flash). Issue, is that it doesn't have a zip closure (has a flap that isn't sealed.
Shoulder Bag:Lowepro Stealth Reporter D650 (Holds a little bit more gear then the Tamrac, but is also a lot more bulky).
Shoulder Bag: Think Tank Urban Disguise 60. Not as bulky, but can't hold bodies with lenses attached (or at least pro size bodies attached).
I finally decided that when I travel with a laptop, I'll carry two bags, the Gura Gear Kiboko backpack for my photo gear (by far the best backpack i've used) and the Think Tank Urban Disguise 60 for the laptop and accessories). The combo allows me to use the Gura Gear photo backpack as my allowed carry-on and the TT shoulder bag fits the size restrictions for the laptop or 2nd allowed carry-on item - at least for North American travel.
your best bet for the smallest bag that carries a 17" is probaby the TT as long as you don't need your lenses attached to your camera bodies.
