Nice job - love love love the lighting.

Did you trigger those with a photogate or did you trip the shutter by hand? How bout some of the back story? (i.e. took me 500 tries to get those x shots)

Well, it won't sound all that hard once I tell you how I did it. Basically, once my 7 month old took her morning nap, I cleared the kitchen table, took out this brownie pan and filled it half way with water. I filled up a zip lock bag with some water and hung it on the ceiling fan with some fishing line over the pan. It was a pretty ghetto setup. The room was well lit with ambient light from all sides, btw. I closed the blinds part way so that they defused the light coming in. I took a white sheet of paper and jerryrigged it with some tape behind the pan so that it pointed about 10 -15 degrees downward. I tried to use the off camera flash but for some reason, the triggers were malfunctioning. (batteries maybe) So I put the flash on the camera and put that on a tripod. I was using a Canon 5Dmk2 and a 100 2.8 macro lens with a 430EX flash. So then I poked a hole in the bag and started shooting away. At first the water came out in a steady stream. I think the air in the bag was pushing it out. But after a little while it started to come down in a managable rate. The original shots did not look all that great (greyish) but once you changed the white balance to tungsten, then you get that nice blue color. Oh I tried focusing on the drops using a pen then taking it out of auto focus but the bag kept on spinning so the drops kept on moving. Fortunately, the drops were going down pretty fast to where I could focus on it manually by hand. It's a bit of a numbers game. Took over 90 pictures, easy to come up with these. I'd take 20, upload them to the computer, see what I did wrong and try again. Needless to say most of these keepers were from the last batch.

I tried to follow this guy's setup here (

There's also this that looks interesting (

Thanks, hopefully the description is helpful. If I had to do it again, I definitely would tie the bag so that it doesn't spin around and I would have different color backgrounds handy or maybe even some gels.

Very cool! I like #1 and #3 the best. I like how they're so sharp.
