Images from yesterday's football games - The Bruce Mahoney.

My school, Sacred Heart Cathedral and Saint Ignatius hold one of the longest (2nd, if I'm not mistaken) high school rivalries in the country, and yesterday was the football game (there are two others - basketball and baseball) for the Bruce Mahoney trophy. Many SF Bay Area people know about the Bruce Mahoney, so yesterday, at Kezar Stadium, there was A LOT of publicity - Channel 5 news was there, hired professional photographers, and more. I was able to photograph on the sidelines because I am my school's yearbook-and-pretty-much-everything-else photographer. I am 16 years old and a Junior.

I showed up at 11 o'clock for two games - the JV game (which was at 11:30) and Varsity game (the REAL deal, which was at 2:30).

All images were taken with my [gear, not the school's] trusty Nikon D2H + 80-200/2.8. The last varsity image was with the D2H + 18-55mm (kit lens!).

I think there was just one parent shooting HANDHELD with a Canon body (couldn't identify the model, didn't look like a 1D-series though) and a 300/2.8L.

The guy with the D3 + 300/2.8 (along with a D2Hs + 70-200VR attached to a Black Rapid strap) was hired by my school, and the other guy with the D3 + 200-400VR was hired by Saint Ignatius-He just came over to the SHCP side because he said the lighting was much better and he'd gotten much more pleasing results. The two ladies in the pictures posted above with the 50D + 200/2L and D300 + 300/2.8 go to SFSU and went to the game as an assignment for their photojournalism class.

Thanks for the kind words, hopefully the parents like the images enough to buy them.
