I love the deep contrasty images you have here, especially in #1 with the contrast between the ivory background and the ebony character. These statues also look profoundly 'real' in a certain way...

With the first shot, I was intrigued with the slender "femininity" of the pose. I don't know the reason why it was sculpted that way- and of the dozens of interpretations of Buddha I've seen, I came across no others that were at all similar. Perhaps it is in part because the Thai people are very graceful- and they are.
