Thats a beautiful lens Karl and in your hands it gives beautiful results!
1 Wonderful color, centre of the flower is well defined, so well placed in the frame and the petals lead the eye off to the sea of color in the bg.
2 Not an easy one, a bit too many pieces competing for attention IMHO.
3 Beautiful orchid, lovely detail and DOF at F8, the front draws one right into the flower. One nit here is that I might have tried to clone out the protruding little petal at the top to define the flower better as for me it draws the eye just a bit off the flower, but just a nit buddy
4 Ah, you got a vertical crop in Like a sun with its array of attendant petals. It has the 135 distinctive not over sharp detailed look in the centre.
5 Proud and symbolic!
6 Looks more like competing Mums to me with a little leaf tussle going on, but another wonderful explosion of color!
Super set my friend and looking forward to the next installments
Martin
Nice wording and interpretations Martin #2 is not an easy one and keeps me trying and trying without any additional BG PP work, just working the luck of the DOF I'm OK with your nits too
Last one, explosion of color is helping, that part is more the stimulation than the comp I am afraid
Thanks a floral bunch buddy, yes more to come!

Well Done Karl All are super but one seems to stand out like a sun burst to me. Ed
OK Mr Robusto, a few beers back to you my friend! Thanks for sitting down and sharing a moment with me here...............Glad to hear #1 was a stand out

Hey Karl, I can always count on you to perk my week up with some quality florals (especially when the flowers are mostly gone in our area).
I love the colors in that first Mum, but the orchids really got my attention. They are such beautiful flowers. The curves, the patterns and colors all combine to make them real eye catchers.
I'm definitely looking forward to parts 2 - 4.
It's really too bad that we can't smell the fragrence to go with these images!
Dave
Good to hear from you, you got a moment from your hectic schedule! The orchids are fascinating, they have so many unique features, exotic and erotic at times They put up quite a Orchid display at this facility come Feb-March, a sight to see for sure!
Thanks for the visit my friend

Excellent, well composed macros. Very nice set Karl.
A kind thanks for you pleasing words. These are really minimum focusing distance shots and a few with an ext tube but they are fun to dive into with macro lens too
Thanks for stopping by........

vibrant colors karl. they just pop out of my screen. all are fantastic but my pic is #5. there is something "quiet and wonderful" about that one single flower with the splashes of yellow behind it. reminds me that i need to go shoot my dads' orchids sometime.

Hung, picture #5 now with a background water feature with a calming gurgle of water and a sea of these surrounding it, interesting how one flower brings the feeling sometimes of the entire scene
Have fun with the orchids, so many great ones! Thanks for the kind words

I will go with #5 as my pick, Karl. Unless you are keen on the "grainy" look of the BG, I would apply NR just to get a more creamy-looking effect.
Sorry, but the white single mats are not too inspiring. Please produce some complementary-colored double mats in the future.
Tony
Hmmm, I don't see #5 as grainy. I did apply a light touch of NR initially
Ahh man you are busting me on my first set of mats, dang it! I kinda like the simplicity of them and the non-intruding white Your mind is probably racing 100mph on framing for these
Thanks Tony .........
Karl
Hmmm I didn't comment on these......no wonder!
You can't get anything pass ZooM these dayz
Ok ok i'll admit...I love #1 & 4 amazing colours and superb framing...I would just slapped it in the middle

Hi Karl! Spectacular images here and on post#2!!! All facets of proper photography technique and post processing are exampled here!!
Well done my friend!
Dan
I would say you've got a great touch on all images! To make a common subject stand out, one has to have a keen eye and one has to know how to present it.
I like #1 and 2 best. The birlliant color contrast in the first image has a great visual impact and it really pops.Wow! The composition and the angle play a major role
in this image and it is a powerful visual presentation. I tried to take the same flower shot like in #2 but I found it's not easy. Particularly with this flower,
finding a focus point is very important and I wasn't successful in achieving it.
Now a master showed me how to do it.
