#1 is terrific Karl, I love the composition and the burst of color that radiates from the center of that Mum is amazing! Excellent work here buddy.
#2 Orchid is both beautiful and alien looking at the same time, pretty cool. Beautiful colors and patterns, I like it.
#3 Brilliant color, very nice comp, with texture and detail that is touchable. I do find the stem a little distracting, but what are you going to do. Well done.
#4 My second favorite to #1... beautiful color, wonderful comp, and again I love the texture and detail you've captured here for our enjoyment.
#5 Very simple lines and the color just pops off the screen, and I really like the BG here a lot.
#6 Beautiful color once again but this one doesn't work as well for me because of the in focus petals of the BG flower protruding into the middle of the image. They compete for the attention of my eye that I want to focus on the center of the FG Mum. Nit.
That's a lot more than 2 cents worth... go ahead and keep the change.
Beautiful subjects and excellent work buddy, all good for the soul.
Boy had to take a # to reply Blech!! very well done but blech nonetheless. I'm taking a shower and eye wash now.
You used to shoot birds....sniff, what happened I want Karl back.
Thats a beautiful lens Karl and in your hands it gives beautiful results!
1 Wonderful color, centre of the flower is well defined, so well placed in the frame and the petals lead the eye off to the sea of color in the bg.
2 Not an easy one, a bit too many pieces competing for attention IMHO.
3 Beautiful orchid, lovely detail and DOF at F8, the front draws one right into the flower. One nit here is that I might have tried to clone out the protruding little petal at the top to define the flower better as for me it draws the eye just a bit off the flower, but just a nit buddy
4 Ah, you got a vertical crop in Like a sun with its array of attendant petals. It has the 135 distinctive not over sharp detailed look in the centre.
5 Proud and symbolic!
6 Looks more like competing Mums to me with a little leaf tussle going on, but another wonderful explosion of color!
Super set my friend and looking forward to the next installments

Oh this is a nice set Karl
1 this comp is perfect, yes perfect. I said it so it must be so. I just love this shot. Before you print this, as you know you should, clone out the thing on the petal, right center
I could be done now but Oh know, you had to post more. Karl, you could have milked this post for the whole winter
2 & 3 I like, be happy with that
4, now we are talking again, love this shot. I don't know how many times I have blown this shot. You got it my Ohio bro
5 classic clean lines with a shower curtain bg, real sweet
6 I like it but not as much as 1.
#1 where is the 'print' button, one of these days Tim I will print something Perfection, thanks as it is good to know that this one rested well in your mind
#2,3 you like..............I'm happy with that
#4 Well just between you and me, it took a little finessing to come up with something workable here, but I was satisfied with it and found it different!
#5 Shower curtain BG, not sure I have heard that before
#6 I believe you!

I really like the reds of the Mums, Karl with the last one being my favorite. The other shots have very good techs. Worth mentioning the beautiful rendering of the velvety texture of # 3
Socrate
P.S. I just got a phone call from Mister Zoom. He told me to let you know that these images look blechy
Floweres with red seem easier to get the color right than all red flowers. I am pleased you like the reds and they are very accurate in this case too. The texture on the orchids I am sure is often overlooked by those that haven't had the pleasure of getting close to, those are some defined open celled petals for sure on these yet the are very reflective as you know Thanks for pointing that out.
If ZOOM is calling you, than I will take that as a 'good blech'

Not a chance you're going sneak stinky Blecky flowers by the Zm, Ms. Karl-A
These are all real nice and I'm sure someone is going to like them, not me, but someone
Zoom
Great timing Mr Z as I was just eluding to your call to Socrate, note in post above
I got away with these for a little while at least, stinky, nah but not fragrant either
I sure hope someone likes them Don't let me interfere with any plans to shoot florally while you are with the men Ms ZOOM
Thanks for your continued blechy support buddy!
Ms Karl-A

Geez Karl.. you really make it hard to pic a fave. They are all quite lovely! But if I had to pick, it would be #1!
These always tend to look better together Conrad, just like a boquet does. Its a great way to get a 'fix' on colors and the harmonies of them, thanks buddy!

These shots are breathtakingly beautiful. I had some mums, but I couldn't figure out how to make them sing, you did. How are the rest of us ever going to post a flower pic without feeling inferior? Truly lovely.
Jeanette
Now you know how I feel sometimes posting birds There is plenty of room for improvement in some of these and some of these I really like Jeanette. I would be happy to share at anytime to anyone what makes these work for me and much of it has come from learning the processing that renders their beauty.
Maybe I should start a post sometime and have anybody post a flower that wants to get started or is struggling, well, maybe I should ask Fred for a separate forum for that
Thanks so much for the very kind words, there is some great talent in all of us for many subjects, I would never wish anyone to feel inferior in this category
Hey Karl, I can always count on you to perk my week up with some quality florals (especially when the flowers are mostly gone in our area).
I love the colors in that first Mum, but the orchids really got my attention. They are such beautiful flowers. The curves, the patterns and colors all combine to make them real eye catchers.
I'm definitely looking forward to parts 2 - 4.
It's really too bad that we can't smell the fragrence to go with these images!
