I personally don't like the sound of Castro photo/photography. Ed Cas Photography does sound better.

So I guess not many liked Tricord Studio?

The idea behind Tricord is good, but that's because you know and
I know what it's about, but to others it's meaningless.

Even 3Cord Studios looks and sounds better, but you gotta
admit 'Ed Cas Photography' PWNS ALL!! If you register that one,
you'll have to send me royalties .. haha !

Tricord is OK, you can definitely build a branding identity off of that. But unless there is a huge JW market where you are, from a business perspective I wouldn't rely on that alone.

And OT my take on Eccl. 4 is it's about relationships in general (the man had neither son nor brother), not about being married. But, it does get quoted on occasion at weddings and you are a wedding photographer (or starting out as one), so it makes sense you would build off that theme.

Besides, even if your wife is a part of your team, it can still be your business in your name. You are the primary at the moment. You can make the argument that if your wife is submitting to your leadership in other areas (for example, by taking your family/last name), the business is just another avenue to do the same.

Also back to your original name, what about using "photo" in the URL instead of "photography"? Or, are those taken?

Didn't read the other posts yet but here is my 2 cents. I use godaddy right now but will be switching soon. I like them and the CS is unreal!!! Seriously, refreshingly awesome. But they may or may not host your site on a server that has adult content. Thus, if people try and access your website from the office or workplace, they will get an error message (if the company restricts certain sites) saying you are attempting to access a site with adult content. Pry really embarrassing for people trying to "show" off their wedding photographer. I don't hate them because of it but it is a bit annoying.

1and1 is an excellent provider, satisfied for 8 years with them.

Some other people on another site have suggest to use 1and1.com. All I want to do is register my name, not host with them. And thanks for the reminder about them hosting adult sites, I remember some one complaining about that.

Ok, not wanting to make another thread on this, but I'm thinking of going with viewbook.com for my site and hosting needs. They look decent, great prices and seem to be sufficient enough customizable. Any one use them?

Oh and I'm thinking of just going with a simple banner for my logo...

My opinion: Tricord really does sound like some kind of industrial company. In fact, it already is several industrial companies: http://tinyurl.com/yd73qoa

Wedding photography is a personal type of business. Your brand should be personal as well. I like the concept of your quote. Why not one of these:

Threefold Photography
Threefold Studios
Threefold Cord Photographic

They relate to your quote, are easily explained, appeal to your faith, and sound interesting and memorable.

definitely... When I think tricord I would almost have 3 (red) cords being intertwined into 1, on a black background... I think that sort of a thing would connect more with what tricord means to you than the logo banner you suggested.

YMMV

Personally, I don't like TricordPhotography. I don't get it and I think it's a little bit of a stretch for the reference you gave.

I'm a fan of using your own name for the name of your company, as an artist. I know you said you don't want to do that though.

And you don't need 'photography' or 'photo' in your domain by the way. People don't like typing huge URLs. Something like EdwardCastro.com would be effective. And it's available.

Thanks for the suggestion Kurtis, but I'd still like to keep away from using my name.

I don't think tricordphoto.com is too long, my name is longer then that!

By the way, for what it's worth, most people don't love the way their name sounds. But it is your name, and as the photographer YOU are the face of the business, so you may as well be proud of your name. Having it be your name also implies that you don't hire crappy photographers to do your work for you while you rake in the profits like some photography chains do.

One more thing on the Tricord note:

I hear that the most effective domain names (from a google ranking perspective) are ones that include the location and service.

EdwardCastro.com is my vote. I don't think there is anything wrong with that name at all. I actually think it sounds very professional. I went through the same thing. My last name is Egbert. Yours sounds much better than mine for a photographer. I ended up going with Legend photography because the .net was available and no other names I liked were. Eventually I got the .com as well.

Um, you shouldn't of done that, I'm a trekke! That's it, I'm sticking with the name, thanks!
