Good to know...I was affraid of that...that's why I cheated my way out of the army

I'll think i'll pass though..tried the Nikon once and it seemed like I need to have 4 arms and 20 fingers to do the same things I do w Canon

Definatly gets better when you have real light to shoot with Kirk That Curlew shot is plain awesome, buddy! Also liked that 2nd Peli-Ken shot, as you knew I would

Zm

It was clear in Yorba Linda at 06:00 and when I got to SJWS it was fogged in... so I just made the best of it and am pretty pleased with my first marine layer series.

Wish I could've been lower for the Curlew but that just doesn't happen from the high trails at BC.

Thanks for the picks and I did know you would like the Peli-Kens.

Ah, it makes me realize once again that BC is still photograph-able even in the foggy mornings, which it was when I drove by on Monday then high-tailed it to a Golden Glow SJWS. The light on the Curlew is stunning and my favorite, but all excellent work, Kirk.

Best Wishes,
Steve

Actually 1-8 were shot that morning in the fog at SJWS Steve. I was anticipating the sunrise glow but the marine layer was stubborn and hung around til about 8:45. It worked out well though as I'm very pleased with my first fog series.

Thanks for the very kind words Steve.

When I saw the foggy surroundings as I was driving in to work in the morning, I was thinking that I wouldn't be missing much by having to go in to work. From the look of your post here ............. Boy, was I wrong!
Those Sandpiper shots are outstanding. Love the low angle and the color rendition. and speaking of colors ................ the Curlew in golden light was also outstanding.
You're making me very resentful of the fact that I'm stuck going in to work, and that I also will not get a chance to shoot this weekend because of other committments.
- Ken

When I left the house Tuesday it was clear as a bell and I was drooling over the golden sunrise glow at SJWS. As I got closer I could see the marine layer and just hoped it would lift soon. This is my first experience shooting under these conditions and I'm so glad I had the chance to do it, although certainly not conditions that we hope for, I'm very pleased with the results. We just have to make the most of our limited shooting opportunities.

The Curlew was one of those moments of being in the right place at the right time... and I was ready.

Thanks for the good words, I really appreciate it.

See you soon. Kirk

I'm liking the monochrome look you achieved in the first 4 frames Kirk, gives a great feel to the image Nice of the Peli to blow the grey out Nice underwing view in #7. Two different feelings from the first and last shots, Kirk, each one with its own character and with the last shot being an explosion of colors and lighting. They all have good techs and detail are really nice with 8 and 11 being my favorites.

Kirk I would like to know common EXIF data as shown in these shots. I undersatand that the D300 is avery good low light/high ISO body. Where do you commonly find ISO values that work for you. Thanks & take care. Bob
