p.1 #1 · Soft light and mud

Hi guys,

Recent melting snow has made it mud season near my location. Very much enjoy shooting the receding water levels of the lake for the texture and detail. Love going wide for that.

Just a few, and thanks for your thoughts and for looking.

Brian

Very nice use of light. Just goes to show that you can make a great shot out of anything when the light is correctly used. Even mud.

Good eye for the comp in that first one I really like the way this one drags my vision into the scene with the golden grasses along the sides below and the dark clouds just above - that makes a really nice frame for this image.

These all have your signature look, Brian, well-composed shots with interesting light and vibrant color. I enjoyed every one of them. I think the second is my favorite.

Nice set! yes, a good photographer can often make an interesting image out of almost anything, as you have definitely done here. The first 2 are my favorites; #1 haviing the wonderful s-curve and the patch of colored grasses on the leftand #2 with that exquisite patch of blue sky, the same exciting colored grasses, and the wonderful symmetrical curves in it. Like someone else said, you have made even mud a mesmerizing scene!

Fantastic images, as always. I never knew mud could look so good.
The second one is my favourite of these. I like the strong lines and the great ripples in the water.

Well, I can only parrot what everyone else has said - great colors and comps - but I'll just add I find these really soothing to look at, almost like a zen garden. There is a real sense of rhythmic motion.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on these. I went out there with the intent to draw the viewer in with lines and depth. An ultra wides strength, that is for sure. I plan on hitting this spot a few more times when it starts to freeze over with ice, which should be in the next week or two.

I guess you know which lens is right for you when you plan your outings and vision around it

Thanks again,

Brian

Ah, very cool and comps make these images...well the light/processing does it to...so basically everything. Only 3 doesnt work as much for me as the white mud gets cut off. 2 could use a bit of dodging to the white as well as seems a bit gray. Great work overall here

Excellent comps. #2, with the use of the longer lens to bring the mountain and grasses into play, wins out for me but all are excellent. I wonder how a dusting of snow would look?

Wonderful images, Brian. I'll join in voting for the second, as well. The use of the waters edge to draw the eye to the wonderfully lit background is fantastic.

Cheers,
