Looks like the color version has a pretty serious white balance problem..?

Tim: Thank you. These guys were fun to photograph and funny to watch

Johnny: Could you explain why it appears off to you? I am color blind so I have problems with correct color at times.

Rob: No problem and thanks again

Josh: I gotta switch it up every once in awhile Thank you for your comment

If he is seeing what I am seeing the shot is leaning toward magenta, the dirt looks pinkish and the warm browns in the feathers are somewhat the same. Also is probably affecting the normally brilliant eye color.
There are few people on this forum that are color blind, it is still good to see your passion for photography!

The B&W actually shows some of the intensity in the eyes and nice contrast in the body that the WB challenged color one is missing Neat critters, someday I may get the chance.......................

I do like the B&W conversion and I usually don't like them for avian photography. In this case I think it works quite well. Well done!

I am w/ Tim. I am normally not a big fan of B&W animal shots but this one came out good.

Thank you all for looking. It makes me feel good to receive compliments from the fm greats. I have seen work from the majority of you and what you all are producing has been inspirational, humbling, and motivating all at the same time.

Hung: Thank you for the comment. I think the eyes is why I liked the b/w version better.

Dpic: They are very interesting creatures to be sure. I enjoy watching them as much as I do photographing them.

fwyflyr: Thank you

Karl: Thanks for the insight. At times I have to rely on the computer correcting the color. My wife and kids help me as well. Anything off of a primary color and I have problems We have an abundance of them in my hometown during the late summer months. They hang out with the prairie dogs (we have an abundance of those as well). Ever in Kansas let me know. We are also a major flyway for migratory birds with some exceptional wildlife refuges close by.

Tim: thanks for looking and the compliment

dan: Thank you

Excellent composition and very nice eye level angle... well done.

I'm not a big fan of B&W bird photography, but you've made this image work very well actually.

Nice work.
