Had a great time shooting the daughter of an old friend. These are some of my personal favorites.

these are really nice. good on ya for getting her to smile with braces.

the chain link fence shot, however, screams, "poor white trash" and would be a <delete> for me.

a bit heavy on the post-processing for my taste -skin appears just too smooth on a few of them.

i would also design a nice logo for your shots. that font is very overused and looks a bit amateur-ish

Nice photos.
I think your sharpen settings are very high. it's not ideal.
The black&white is totally "lifeless".

Welcome to the forum, Chad - or the posting experience of it.
Nice mix of shots in your series - locations, poses and expressions. Good choices.

I like your compositions and lighting.
Most of these turned out really well.
#3 is not as pleasing IMO. I think you show too much fence and not enough girl. Cropping away the left side is an option I would consider. (or greg's option)

What a great start.

Nice job! Not sure how well the BWs will go over, are the kids buying them nowadays? I'd like to see color versions of 2 and 5. Light seems a little hot on her forehead in 1. Interesting light on 3, snooted?

5 is my fav, she rooks mahvelous!

#5 is beautiful, and I'm not usually a B&W fan for senior pics. Dammit, I like #2 as well, and I just scrolled back up and saw that one's B&W. Argh.

They're all pretty nice, but #2 and #5 are WAY good.

Thanks for all of the comments!

On the fence shot- I'll let subjectivity play its role here. I really like the shot (so did client). Not sure about the 'white trash' reference? Funny how an image (or particulars in an image) can draw different emotions from different people. The lighting on this image was an SB800 zoomed to 105mm in small soft-box. I burned the edges in post to complete the effect.

The black and whites were done for my own selfish reasons. The daughter received color versions of all images.

The logo was a simple, quick and unobtrusive way to label these before they went to her facebook and myspace accounts.

In general I feel these shots are beautiful. Of course it helps that the girl is so pretty! I think you did a good job of capturing a variety of expressions and poses.

I love how her eyes pop on #5, but the skin tone of her neck is too close to the skin tone of her cheek/jaw, so it all blends together. This happens in the color version you posted too. If the lighting had been placed so as to give a shadow on the neck, or otherwise highlight the jawline, I feel it would have been a better image.

I find the lighting to be a bit too hot on #1 -- her forehead looks white.

But I would be proud to have taken these, so congrats on a good session!
