I have experienced sites using ambient noise effectively, however. Like, websites that have sounds like a city at night (rushing cars, distant sirens, etc.) or ambient outdoor noise (breeze, birds, etc.). So long as it's subtle and not distracting. Shit like Jack Johnson distracts me and "bubble toes" skeeve me out.
Then again, I'm not a bride, I'm a battle axe. A nerdy one.

Brides like music more often than not, so I compromised and made the music player set a cookie for my own sanity. If you pause it, it stays paused on subsequent visits. If not, it auto-plays.
