If I hear another Jack Johnson song on a wedding photographer's website, I'm just going to snap.
Sometimes I don't think it would be a bad idea to put music on my website, but when I start narrowing it down to the songs I'd actually like to put on my website, I realize its a bad idea:
3. Bach's Mass in B Minor, MWV232, XVII. Chorus, Crucifixus
2. Philip Glass, Etude No. 5
1. Satie's Gnossiennes No 1 - Lent
I bet you are good at crosswords. You know all these big words.
I go back and forth between music on site and no music. Music definitely adds to a photo presentation, but, im divided about the presentation being a website. Doing it well on HTML is also a challenge (page loads and music stops).
I like to save the music for when they come into the studio. Music on websites is annoying. If it wasn't for the invention of tabbed browsing and multiple windows it might not be so bad, but random music starting when you're multi-tasking makes babies cry.
i personally want to stab myself in the mouth when unsolicited music starts playing on a website, but i feel like i must be in the small minority of the general population, because all the time i hear, "i LOVE the music on your website"...
evan, if you are thinking about putting music on your site, i'm sure you could find a great local artist looking for some exposure who would be willing to let you use their song...being from nashville that shouldn't be too hard to find...the song on my website is from my best friend and his wife (who live in nashville), and i know plenty of similar artists who would probably be stoked to parter with your greatness

I'm not really hung up on putting music on my website.... but if I did it would have to be classical or at MOST instrumental Jazz in order to be "on brand," and my tastes in both tend towards brooding and melancholy. Thus, no music.
