p.1 #1 · Fireworks With A Monopod?

Not sure if this is the best forum but I was wondering if any of you guys have had an success with shots of bonfires and fireworks using a monopod? I would like to bring my tripod but it just isn't an option. I'm going to the Lewes november 5th celebrations in England which are notoriously busy. Any tips?

Since you won't be able to hold the camera steady, you can try to get some interesting shots with intentional camera shake. Set the exposure for a few seconds and tap the camera to make it vibrate. The combination of monopod movement and camera vibration should create all sorts of weird loops and shapes that might make a nice abstraction.

You might be able to do them handheld, depending on how close you are to the fireworks and how much surrounding area you want to capture. I have done it handheld before, it was not an issue. I was actually really surprised how bright the fireworks were.

Cheers for the responses. I'll try some abstract stuff, that was always a backup plan but I'd like to do some 'proper' stuff. Nice to hear that you can get decent results handheld, hopefully with a monopod I should manage it then.
