The plan was to do the shoot on location, but to much wind and to much risk (rain etc) for the light gear.. so we went to the studio instead.

well she is no model, so she had hard time giving expression while she was dancing.. but I thinkn it turned out ok

Your lighting looks really good. This image looks lonely. It's hard to gauge the success of the shoot with only one image.

the jacket makes her left arm look straight to the right resulting in an unusual appearance.
your liking is very nice.

I "have" to disagree with previous comments.
True, she's not a model, she's a dancer ! But the fact that her face "lacks" expression is maybe a way of expressing !!!?
I can imagine that this "shot" comes from a musical such as ... darn, forgot the name ... this story bout two lovers from different gangs .... her name is Maria .... well anyway, I'll post it when I recall it again. Euh, "West Side Story" ... right !?
Anyway, if a certain sequence is about "hate" for example or "sadness", then if the dancers DOES express well, you should not be able to catch a nice smiling "attractive" face.
In this case, the moment might have "asked" for a kinda " I show/have no feelings" expression !?
Her pose is to me a perfectly "possible" pose while dancing.

I am covering theatre regulary and I had to cover another African group. Kinda experimenal dancing from Cape Verdië. Pictures are used to promote the group in case they return in the theatre after a year or two. So the people whom I work for did "complain" that some pictures didn't show them smiling (which is more attractive to potential visitors of the show).
But they actually WERE very expressive, but during certain sequences their play was about slavery and torture ... their singing and monologues, spoken in portuguese, could have give that away, ifit not was spoken .... in Portuguese :-)
So, delivering pictures with smiling faces, IF able to catch some, would not have been representative for the show and for sure the producer/writer would not feel good about that.
As a photographer, I try to capture the moment, the expression. Selling the show, you have different "standards" unless you want to sell the "product" as what it stands for.
So when it's not all about joy and pleasure, ya should show the "negative" feelings as well, as well as the so called "expressless" ones !!!

Sorry, but I had this discussion in the past and all came back

Now over to the picture itselve heheh.

Nice light but I don't like the pose or expression !!!

Oh no, couldn't resist, sorry bout that.

To me, off course, this kinda light is rare in a theatre, controlled one. Very nice.
Big softbox above her, slightly right side and kicker/rim left hand sight ?
( I have to do with the light I get from the light technician so just guessin' hah)

Did you apply some slight "structure" layer (visible on the floor) ?
If so, is this meant to give it a "real" theatre look ? If so, I'd change the direction of lines. More in an angle from let's say right bottom direction left top. Or if you wanted to "show" kinda structure of the floor, lines should start move towards one another in the direction of the horizon, not spreading.
If not, forget this last paragraph of comments ! :-)

I like the pose. I like the lighting. I like the shadow beneath the muscel of her right shoulder and the indentation of her belly. I like the fact that there are no shoe laces. I like the expression, or maybe the somewhat lack there of would be a better descriptive.

I'll have to say that the left arm does... bother me some, but hey, she's dancing.

Beautiful dancer.

Thanks. I'll look forward to seeing more from this shoot.
