p.1 #1 · Which Flash?

Hi all,

I am seeking some advice when it comes to alternatives to my Canon 580EX speed lights. I do a lot of corporate awards shoots, which always lands me in high ceiling ballrooms with crappy lx conditions. I use MK3 bodies and my glass is all fast and L series. I am at the point where I am craving better flash performance than my 580's can supply.

Any thoughts on alternative units would be most welcomed thanks

Are you bouncing flash off the ceiling all the time? With different techniques you might find the 580ex more than adequate, Have you ever considered other strategies like a bracket or dual flash?

This sounds like a situation where you want to get a flash off camera, either a mono light that can be bounced or another 580, Quantum QFlash or monolight aimed at the area(s) of importance.

With the on camea flash for fill.

Another option is an assistant with a light stick for the off camera flash.
