Ted, Great shot! I believe this is the same bird that we saw down there last year. Some of the regulars down there had mentioned they got a good look at the tag and it was the same. again nice shooting.
Joe
Why thank you Joe, I captured this one on the creek in my back yard.

Nice shot Ted! It is nicely focused and sharp. For crits, it would be better if it wasn't going away from you, it barely is so it does work. The tail looks a bit hot, they are real hard to expose It still is a keeper
Tim
He looked me square in the face and scared me Tim. Thanks for the input.

That must be one bad Eagle, Ted. not only does it have handcuffs on both legs they also put a tracking bracelette of the poor thing. One of the local gang members I presume
Excellent grab, Sir!

Ted, I heard from my contact from W&M U and yes it is one of ten they put transmitters on. Trouble is the number as they did use #3 in all ten but the letter that goes with the 3 is what we need for a positive ID. We will get it buddy and then I will put you in contact with my contact so you can relate your story. We need the letter that goes in front of the 3 so keep trying and pass the word.

Lou...I hope I didn't step on your toes and it seems we are in contact with the same person.
Ted...thank you for the help with Lou and I on this transmitter Eagle. The CCB loves hearing and seeing images of birds they've banded or placed transmitters on.

No-no Duane not at all as two working on the same project is twice as good. Libby had ID quite a few for me over the years but not without the guys and gals at the dam getting the photos. I love when they get a New Yorker aand once one I had from a nest I monitored back about 3 years ago. We named her Miss New York. Its a fun thing and getting a nest photo for the photographer is the best part.

WHOE Ted great capture on both. From the looks of both I have to say that beak tells me a nice looking female. Now that second one is proberly just a bit off color as I am sure that band is purple and even on this one I can make a numbe 3.
Would you be good enough to send me a fair resolution of about 300PPI @ about 4MB of this one so I can try for the band for you. Please if you do can you tell me the date and time an about where you were able to make this capture. I am sure it is one tagged by the W&M University most likely on the Aberdean Proving grounds by trapping. Maryland gave up banding about 1984. However the color purple was also used for the Stare of Virgina so if it was banded as a nesting eaglet I may be able to get a nest photo for you. I promise you get full credit and I'll even spell your name right. Again as I said on the PM back to you just now my email is on my web home page. www.loubuscher.com. Thanks Ted

Lou, I look forward to the ongoing research. To get a clean capure of a banded BE was one of my goals for this years eagle season. I appreciate your help and support.

Hi Ted, my 2 cents......The fact that you can see the head saves the image. It is a good angle with a good wing position. The fact it has a td on it makes it intriguing if not a little less natural. The fish adds a super element. It is almost always more impactful to have the bird at an even plane with the viewer or 3/4 or full coming towards the viewer. Also, the whites on the tail are hot in all three channels, r,g, and b therefore leaving a lack of detail in the tail feathers.

Well Ted we are now sure (99%) that this bird was banded by the W&M U by a lady named Libby (my contact there and also Duanes) They have been trapping at the APG for quite a number of years as I said before Maryland stopped banding in 1984 so any birds banded are most likely have been trapped by her group or from Virginia where they still may be banding.

Ted -
Congratulations on a unusual shot (a radio transmitter BE with a catch)! The going away angle is usually not the preferred view, but your shot still shows the head and a good look at the fish, so it works nicely.
I'm not a fan of bands on birds photographically, but being able to get the story behind a particular bird due to the band is always neat.

Ted,
A very interesting shot on 2 different levels.
1) The tracking device... something you don't see often.
2) Great catch, a nice size fish.
Tim
Thanks Tim, I originally though I had an unusal/not frequently seen bird. Some of the replys ( negative regarding the bands and radio device) have me questioning.
