I love mine and the multimax, really reliable just don't have anything touching the aerial and have the aerial pointing up and they work everytime without fail.

One of the 40,000 camera review sites should do a wireless showdown with all the different brands, in varying conditions (inside, outside, etc) with various flashes, Nikon, Canon, studio...I'd love to see that, but it would never happen, someone would alienate a sponsor.

There was a great vid right after the ettl PWs came out.
They got 36 feet max a radio poppers were over a block away and were still getting ettl signals.

I'm all about cyber syncs till I have a need for more than 200th.

I have never had a problem once I bought Nikon speedlights... my 580's would simply not fire. I've been thinking really hard about RadioPoppers -- for me they would be used in addition to my PW's. I don't think I want to go TTL all the time, I'm interested in a pair for run and gun type stuff that's more difficult with manual flash. Overall, though, I don't think TTL flash is going to make me happy.

check out page 1 of the thread. You can still do manual with RPs apparently.

The one thing I love about the RP - is even in manual mode, you can change the flash power from the on camera master. So, it is easy to change things around to get different looks without going to your lights. And, if you use soft boxes, you can change the flash power without opening them up. Though there are some other triggers out there that will do that now, as well. I am going to sell my V1 poppers and PW's to buy a full set of v2 Poppers + a couple jr's this winter.

Before you go out and buy a new setup... how are you connecting your Pocket Wizards to your flash? I use this Hot Shoe Female to Miniphone cord from Paramount Cords and have NOT experienced any problems. My flash fires every time. http://www.paramountcords.com/mhsf1.asp

Yeah I think the PC connector on the 580EXII sucks. Last time I thought my cybersync had an epic failure, but it turned out to be the stupid PC connector.

PWII's - never a problem... but, I also don't use them with any of the Canon flashes. I use Vivitar 285s, and Nikon SB-24s (Pingol influence). Never had a misfire at all with them.

I picked up the PXs, and JRxs a couple of months ago. Really enjoying using them with White Lightnings.

I had PW's for years till RP's. Not looking back now and just added the JrX line for using my AB's.

Couldn't be happier.

BTW, watch your transmitter when out on location shoots as mine got caught on a bush or something while walking from A to B, and came off. I never did find it. So have backup units, though you will never need them till you lose one.

yeah .. the PC connector on the 580 really does blow .. and its a little known fact after i checked out some of the flash / OC stuff threads .. even with my 580II with PWIIs ... if the cord goes in a wrong direction, it just wont fire and its so weird like that ... that why now i just use the rubber band to hold it a certain way

The problem is not with PWs, it's Canon.

If you stay with Canon, be prepared to work-around their flashes regardless of your wireless triggering solution. And yes, I now shoot Canon, go figure.

I've recently purchased the RP PX system, couldn't be happier with it. But be aware this is not the Jr system, so you MUST have a master flash on your camera. I actually prefer this setting, this way I can adjust all my remote strobes from my master, either TTL or Manual. HSS is also supported. Basically, it overrides the built-in infrared signal and replaces it with its own radio signal, everything else is still your own strobes.

It's sure pricey! Two receivers and two transmitters cost 1K! Ouch!

My PW's never worked either. So I went Nikon and CLS. Works like a dream with the su-800. Ditch silly red and go big yellow!!!!

Frank, can you shoot ETTL on camera and manual off camera? If so, can you still adjust the manual flashes?

RP's on SB800's are very nice using both TTL and manual. Watch the rechargeable AAA's in the PX transmitter though. I've had a couple instances of the transmitter having issues with my Enloops so now using alkalines. Heat can also be an issue (failed outdoors in 90+ degree heat under direct sunlight - happened to me once). Other than that I've been very happy with the poppers. Wish they made them a bit more durable though...they just look rather flimsy.

Oh, so even the old PW's have problems? Maybe everyone at PW are Nikon shooters?

I use the PW II's with Nikon and they aren't reliable. It's infuriating when only half of your flashes go and you're only 20 feet away with fresh batteries in them. As soon as you turn off the camera mounted flash they work fine. I've been wondering if cybersync's have the same problem or if it's only PW.

I was having problems this weekend with the PW's and the 580 EX ii, and I am convinced it is the cord.
I could get it to go off with a test, and then once with a shot, and then back to nothing.
I had my husband hold the cord tight into the speedlight and it worked everytime. I think the cord isn't staying.
The cord wasn't falling out by any means, but I think it wasn't in there tight.
