us airways measured my wifes bag.. they tried to tell her she had to check it, I told them to measure again, and it was amazingly within their requirements the 2nd time, when we were watching them measure it
Every airline has their problems. Just like every auto company has theirs. I've flown USairways at least 20+ times in the past.. Now I fly jetblue bc they don't use puddle jumpers into Vermont, but I've only really had one problem with USairwaysand that was someone on the phone saying I could change my flight for no charge b/c of funeral and the airport lady not letting me.
USairways drove 2 1/2 hours round trip to deliver a bag that didn't make it for me.

Led me down a goose chase of multiple representatives and contacts.
I got pissed, wanted to talk to head knocker.
Got head knocker on the phone and he said screw you.
Meanwhile, I sent all the damaged stuff to Canon for repair.
Repair cost come to just under $500
Deductible with Hill and Usher is $500.
Sam pays.
Life sucks.
I wear a jacket and carry lenses in the jacket pocket
The camera must be in a bag that fits inside any plane cabin. Carry less if need to. Don't ever give it up again

Better insurance next time. I truly hope by now you've adjusted your policy. ALL of my equipment is insured with a ZERO deductible.
You really don't want to make an insurance claim for a measly $500 in the first place... That's a good way to increase your premium, and after a certain number of claims, they'll drop you without a second thought. Insurance is for big claims.

Um, yes that makes no sense whatsoever. Don't make a claim. Just keeping paying your insurance company in case of damage, theft, loss, etc. *just in case*.
If he doesn't refine his insurance, then he's learned nothing in this entire situation.

Actually, he's spot on. Make a series of claims and the carrier WILL drop you. So go ahead and get the zero deductible policy and make a claim every time you break a $100 piece of equipment...see where that gets you.

For some reason I was under the impression this nine-page rant wasn't about a $100 piece of equipment. Who said anything about making numerous claims? Yes, it's true a company can/will drop you or increase your premium after a series of claims (especially in a short amount of time), but this is one instance. I have insurance for piece of mind in case the impossible or improbable happens, like an airline refusing to reimburse me after one of its aircrafts damages my super expensive camera equipment leaving me in a situation that possibly hampers my ability to produce my main source of income.
This issue has gone on for months, and again, if OP has done nothing to improve his insurance, he's learned nothing.

Zero deductibles are far from being an end all / be all. The odds ar you will pay more into a "zero deductible account" over a year/s than you will claim. It's a foolish man's bet to go "zero deductible". Insurance companies ar VEGAS. They make money. A lot o money on bets like yours.
