I JUST dropped my M6 on the 5D2 !!!! freak accident, it could have fallen anywhere, it fell on the plastic glass !!!!!!! that was a 15 cm drop and it cracked the glass......
I cant take a picture of the crack until my GF come back with her powershot
can Canon send me a replacement part ? or do I have to send it to canon ? I really want them to service it for free, 15cm drop !!!!
Call Canon parts and they'll sell ya a new one. I scraped my 10D LCD cover & mounting tape and it cost about $15 with shipping back in the day. So it should be $25 or 30 now. Pull it off with a suction cup, lay down the double stick & press on the plastic cover. Took me about 15 minutes and most of that was checking for dust & prints on the LCD cover (so I didn't install with crap underneath).

great I feel better now ! I totally baby my cameras and the 5d2 is the most expensive one I got and plan to keep it for a long time !
where can I find a suction cup?
Use any suction cup of about the size. You can find them at the hardware store. You'll have to pull and the edges up... like popping a dent out of your car. But it will eventually give.
Word of warning:
Assuming you are talking about the back 3" LCD... the tape is not symmetrical. There is a top and bottom and they have different widths. Make sure it is aligned properly or the tape will overlap the window.
They sell suction cups to hang crap on shower tiles, fish tanks, car window blinds, to attach toy animals on car windows, etc. They're all over the place...
Canon charges something like $360 to replace the LCD on the 5D2. I did something similar and I'm currently waiting for the camera to be returned. Man am I bummed.

I replaced a cracked window on my 10D. I used a very sharp knife with some gentle prying and it came off. It is only attached by the adhesive.

Home depot does not have any suction cups...
Do you have a turkey baster with a bulb? Try detaching the bulb & using that? Shower squeegies have suction cups, too - but might be nasty to use and not the right size. Almost any hobby shop (craft stores, like Michael's) will have crafty things with suction cups, too. Look for those litte prisms you hang in windows, etc. - they're often attached with little suction cups.
