garyroach Offline Upload & Sell: On p.1 #1 · Sticky Filters I've never had a problem with sticky filters.......until now. I recently bought a Hoya HD CPL filter which sticks on every lens it's put on. It goes on easily, but it's very difficult to get off. garyroach Offline Upload & Sell: On p.1 #2 · Sticky Filters FWIW, I seem to have found a technique that works. The filter doesn't bind until completely screwed on the lens. Since I like to turn the outer ring clockwise to avoid loosening the filter and risk losing the filter (don't laugh, it happened to me), the filter gets screwed completely onto the lens and therefore binds. But, there is a little play between the threaded ring and the outer ring. If I move the outer ring a bit it seems to allow the threaded ring to move. I've tried this repeatedly and it has worked every time so far. Don't ask me how or why it works, but it does. If this is a reliable work around, it will be better than applying anything to the threads. Oct 23, 2009 at 03:01 AM

Twice the filter fell apart and got lube all over the freakin place Once the front portion feel to the concrete ground. Lucky for me it didn't break. Both times I was able to put it back together. DisrupTer911 Offline Upload & Sell: On p.1 #17 · Sticky Filters my Hoya Pro1 CP gets stuck to my 77-72mm step down ring all the friggin time! especially if its been out in the cold and the metal has contracted since they're different materials they contract and expand at different rates in colder temps so I usually have to "defrost" them before I can finally get them apart. the B+W bronze ringed filters don't get stuck together as easily as the aluminum or other metal ring filters.
