p.1 #1 · B&S Feedback Dilemma

I am seeking members opinions on how to handle a "leaving correct feedback" problem.
I purchased an item and all went fine UNTIL after the payment was made to the seller.
The item advertised did not indicate what method of payment maybe/was required.
I am leaving on vacation this weekend(10/25).
I indicated to the seller that, depending upon what type of payment he required, if it was other than PayPal or Google CO, then I would have to have him "hold" item until I returned BUT I would gladly send payment before hand. He took my PayPal payment. I also wanted to test item b4 leaving in case a problem because item was advertised as "new" still under warranty.
I was told by seller item would ship next day. Well next day came no communication from seller, no item. The following day still no communication from seller so I sent an email response and I was told, "postallady said item would arrive next day and tracking info provided upon access to a computer." That day came no item no tracking info. Again no communication from seller at all!!
Again I had to solicite a response which said he did not send it inspite of the previous "was sent, arrive tomorrow, tracking forthcoming" response.
Now 2 days until I leave on vacatiuon and no item BUT it was sent if sellers tracking info is truthful.
I am not happy at all because communication is one of the primary prequisites of a sale to me. There was no unsolicited communication at all from the seller! The seller did have fine feedback to date.
How would you rate seller in his feedback?? Am I overreacting??
Thanks!
Dan

Too bad we're seeing more and more of this sort of thing lately. Doesn't seem to fit well with the personality of this forum, but I hope it works out positively for you. Please post appropriate feedback, which is all we can do to discourage this sort of thing.

Thanks Dean! I agree!! You have been around awhile also.1st incidence(spellg??) of this in 7 years and over 75 transactions. Yeah sometimes communication is not what we would like but NOTHING?? from a seller post payment?? And a mistruth!!? It was NEVER sent period!! Per his "postalpersons response! Not gud! I just wanted another "insight". Maybe I am not "seeing" something in my older, golden?, years!!
Thanks!!

I agree this isn't a good situation - & frankly doesn't bode well for the satisfactoriness of the item itself (assuming you do get it). For that reason, I would hold off leaving feedback until the transaction is fully completed. There may be more to come.

Sad story. I hope you it turns out well for you but I have a feeling the item will not be what you are expecting - if you get it at all

If I were in this situation, I would wait to see what the item is like once I receive it. If it is as described, I would post a neutral feedback and be sure and mention the flat out lie about the item having been shipped when it wasn't. In my opinion the lie is not something to look past - any excuse would have been better than a lie....

Good luck!

Thanks Rachel! Lens did arrive today but without the requested sales receipt in case of warranty problems.
Lens code was UW(2008) which could be suspect but not unrealistic. The lens bought is not a "highly sought after" lens and depending on where it was purchased, the item/store stock could be 2008.
It appears to be ok but tomorrow, time permitting, I will "run it thru its paces".
Thanks but still would appreciate more input!.

Glad the lens arrived! No receipt as promised - it would be hard for me
to leave neutral feedback all things considered. Maybe he can still send
you the receipt.....

It is unfortunate that anyone has to deal with things like this but, it is becoming more and more prevelant. I had a similar problem a couple of months ago. It seems people just don't know how to act appropriately anymore Thankfully, the majority of the members on FM make this a great place.

Well, if you're like me, you don't want to be too picky or a jerk. However, in this situation the seller is in the wrong and should be rated as such. The unfortunate truth is they will probably give a poor rating in return because they just don't get it! What can I say, some people just suck

As a frequent buyer and seller I feel that both parties in a transaction should automatically have access to each others phone number and street address. You should be required to provide and update this information in order to use the B&S board. That way each party has the opportunity to verify each others identity and physical location via 411.
